Colorectal Conundrum for October 16th:
Male ARM, newborn colostomy, has this distal colostogram. What is the type of malformation, and would you do PSARP or laparoscopy?
Answer for October 16:
This is a very borderline case as far as PSARP vs. laparoscopy, but the rectum here appears to be above the PC line. The fistula is at the prostatic level. Laparoscopy is a great approach for such a case. If one were to utilized a posterior sagittal approach for this case, the rectum would need to be looked for high, under the coccyx, and then would need a long dissection to get the rectum to reach.
